B Tech or Bachelors in Technology is a flag graduation course in several universities in Haryana including Kurukshetra University (KUK), Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU) and Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram University Of Science And Technology (DCRUST). A B.Tech course is an engineering degree in the specialization of subjects like Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Electronics, Computer Sciences, Chemical, Telecommunication, Aeronautics, Instrumentation and so on. The B.Tech is a 4 years course in Engineering and every university has various colleges that offer different specializations depending on the college infrastructure and faculty. Eligibility for Admissions to B.Tech course in 2022
Since the B.Tech is a graduation course, the minimum qualification required for the course is to have cleared the 10 + 2 examination or Class 12th Examination from any recognized Board / University in India. In the 12th class, the student should have taken science subjects of Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with any one of the subjects – Biology, Computer Science, Chemistry or Biotechnology. The minimum percentage that a candidate needs to get in the above examination is 45% to be eligible for admission to B.Tech Course. However, the minimum passing marks may change depending on the university. E.g. DCRUST requires a minimum of 50% marks in Class 12th.
Selection Criteria for Admissions to B Tech
Candidates who meet the above eligibility criteria need to appear for a national level entrance examination – the Joint Entrance Examination or popularly known as JEE Mains. Based on the performance of candidates in this JEE Mains examination forms the basis of admissions to the B.Tech course.
Admissions for B.Tech course
Eligible candidates who want to apply for the B.Tech course need to go to the websites of their respective universities and fill out the online forms for applying for the B.Tech course at the universities. Based on the forms filled and the score obtained by the candidates in the JEE Mains examination, a merit list is prepared at each university. After the list is prepared, a cut-off is decided by each college and university.
Haryana State Technical Counseling Society then conducts counselling sessions for candidates that have scored marks greater than the cut-off marks. During the counselling session, candidates can choose a field of specialization depending on their preferences and also the number of available seats in various specializations. After selection of the specialization, candidates need to pay the admissions fees and submit documents for securing admissions to the B.Tech Course in their respective universities.
Candidates need to regularly visit the websites of universities and respective colleges to keep themselves updated regarding the schedules w.r.t merit list preparation, the appointment for counselling sessions and schedule for waitlisted candidates in case of 2nd and 3rd list preparation.
